Founded in 1845 by German settlers, New Braunfels is rich with old world heritage and small town charm. Stroll in to our city with a walking tour, take in our great museums, historic districts and performing arts. Enjoy family fun at the country's number one waterpark - Schlitterbahn, with 65 acres of family fun -- and folks can bring their own picnic. Float our two clear, clean rivers 'Texas-style' in a "toob!" See the largest caverns in Texas at Natural Bridge Caverns, and family safari next door at Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch. Ride the miniature train in the most beautiful walking arboretum, Landa Park. Enjoy our nationally registered Historic District of Gruene, featuring wine tasting, shopping, dining and dancing.
New Braunfels downtown plaza is a short walk away (or a nice bike ride). Here you will find shops, restaurants and bars. The Crosswalk Coffee Bar is a great place to start your day reading the paper and enjoying a hot cup of joe. Don't miss lunch or dinner at the Huisache Grill. If you are anxious to see a game or play some pool, check out Scores Sports Bar. Drinks before dinner -- check out the Wine Bar. Then dinner at Myron's Steak House is a MUST. Fabulous food and service! Afterwards, head over to the Piano Bar at the Prince Solms for a nightcap. If you're not ready to turn in -- you can head over to Tavern on the Gruene for some of the best local music anywhere! For more information, visit the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce.

Schlitterbahn has plenty to please everyone in the family!
It's been named the "Best Waterpark in the Nation." A surfing wave in the middle of Texas? Water racing uphill? Endless rivers? Schlitterbahn is filled with amazing, cutting-edge water attractions. You've never seen anything like Schlitterbahn! Park re-opens April 29, 2006.
Gruene
Gruene is pronounced "green." German immigrants established the village before 1850. It is now part of New Braunfels, Texas.
Historic structures, both ruins and restored, include old homes, stores, an art gallery, a winery, and an ice cream parlor. Gruene Hall, a rustic beer hall, circa 1880, is still popular for weekend dances. Gruene is an ideal launching spot for inner tubes, rafts, and canoe trips down the Guadalupe and Comal Rivers. In addition, another popular tourist destination, Canyon Lake, Texas, is about a 10-minute drive.
There's plenty to do in Gruene. You'll want to visit Gruene's most complete Calendar of Events, live music and more. Keep up with the Hill Country music scene with Kathleen Hudson's monthly column, "On the Road."
Note: There is also fantastic shopping in Wimberley, Texas (25 miles) and Fredricksburg, Texas (71 miles). These are both beautiful drives through the hill country.
Dry Comal Creek Vineyards
Dry Comal Creek Vineyards is located in a small protected valley nestled in the Texas Hill Country. The rich alluvial soil, laced with limestone, flint and shale chips, provides ideal growing conditions for their grapes.
The wines and vines receive personal care and tending combined with a labor-intensive handmade approach to picking, fermentation, winemaking and bottling. This produces a very personal result in their wines, unmatched in character and uncompromised in quality.
Their wines are as unique as Texas.
Drop by for a visit, sample the latest wines and take a tour! The Tasting Room is open seven days a week from noon to 5:00 pm. "Life is too short to drink cheap wine."
